Centers Hassan Whiteside from the Miami Heat and Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers are set to face each other tomorrow night at Wells Fargo Center in the City of Brotherly Love. These players have an ongoing beef both on and off the court.

Before heading to face the Sixers tomorrow and fly to Detroit after the game to face the Pistons on Saturday, Hassan Whiteside spoke about his rivalry with Embiid. According to Barry Jackson from the Miami Herald, Whiteside said about their relationship's terms:

“Um, I don’t know. I haven’t talked to Joel. I don’t know. It’s just another opponent.”

The Heat center acknowledge the attention and support Embiid receives thanks to his social media activity. The Cameroonian center often interacts with fans through social media and sometimes goes as far as trash-talking opponents through his accounts. It is all in good fun though. Whiteside said:

“[Embiid] does a great job of interacting with fans and fans love him. He got like a cult following. They love him. It’s a big time following.”

But despite the history between both, Whiteside said he is not getting too much into it:

“It’s always a great matchup. But I don’t get caught up into the matchup as much as winning. If a couple extra plays are there that will get us the win, that’s what I’m more concerned about.”

The stars' beef started in a pre-season game last year. They blocked each other's shot during the game, Embiid started trash-talking Whiteside and both exchanged strong comments through social media speaking about each other.

Whatever their relationship status is right now, it will sure be fun to see them go at it tomorrow night. But do not be surprised if Embiid suddenly starts talking about how he is better than Whiteside, as the Sixers center was voted as a starter for the 2018 All-Star game.
