DeMarcus Cousins has had a roller coaster ride over the last couple of seasons. After signing with the Golden State Warriors and rehabbing a good portion of last season from a torn Achilles, Cousins returned only to suffer a quad injury in the playoffs. He was able to come back for the NBA Finals, but his value took a major hit entering free agency.

Now, after waiting around for a bit, Cousins has found his new home. Cousins agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

While he ended up signing with the Lakers, there was another team very interested in signing him. Wojnarowski reported that the team was the Miami Heat.

Pat Riley and company were hoping to bring Cousins in to play alongside the newly-acquired Jimmy Butler. Unfortunately, the draw to play with the Lakers was too much to go up against.

Cousins ended up playing in 30 games with the Warriors during the regular season. He averaged a solid 16.3 points per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.3 steals. In addition to those averages, Cousins shot 48 percent from the field overall and 27.4 percent from the three-point line.

Miami would have been an intriguing landing spot for Cousins, but he wanted to play with Davis again after their time with the New Orleans Pelicans.

It will be interesting to see how Cousins bounces back from the injury struggles he has had. Los Angeles will have their hands full this season, but adding Cousins is a big step if he can return to form.
