One of the more amusing developments of life in the NBA bubble has been the spontaneous interactions between opposing players and coaches on the Disney World campus. On Sunday night, after the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat, 106-93, in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Heat All-Star Bam Adebayo caught a glimpse of the Lakers championship party while on his customary stroll.

ESPN's Rachel Nichols captured the scene on Instagram. For Adebayo, it's all motivation.

At 23, Bam Adebayo made his first of many All-Star and All-Defensive teams in 2019-20, and finished second in the voting for Most Improved Player of the Year.

The versatile big was the best player in Miami's Eastern Conference Finals victory of the Boston Celtics, averaging 21.8 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 block per game in the series. He was hindered by shoulder and neck issues in his first Finals experience, causing him to miss two games and limiting his effectiveness (15.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.5 APG).

Bam Adebayo's reaction to the Lakers celebration should not come as a surprise. In many ways, he became the heart and soul of the Heat during their improbable playoff run, and his general chip-on-his-shoulder attitude and eagerness to improve are among the many reasons why he has developed into such an impressive embodiment of #HeatCulture.

“Bam is one of the great competitors already in this association,” Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said after the conference finals. “He's really going into a leadership role. Way beyond his years. His offensive game is just growing daily. And he wants the responsibility, and he wants the accountability, and he isn't afraid of putting that responsibility on his shoulders.”

Miami will have to decide whether to offer Adebayo a max extension in the offseason, though it's safe to assume they will treat him like the franchise player that he is.
