While talking to a Turkish television channel after Turkey’s EuroBasket Round of 16 defeat at the hands of Spain, former NBA player and current Turkish Basketball Federation president Hedo Turkoglu intimated that all was not well behind the scenes surrounding the team.

Per EuroHoops.net:

“The tournament is over for us. During this process, we were faced with unacceptable negativities. We saw that people who wanted to harm this team also appeared from time to time. No one should doubt that I, as president, will make the necessary clarifications. As long as we (the Federation) exist, our national team can not be hurt by anyone. As the president, I will not allow this, but now it is not the time to say more,” Turkoglu said to Turkish NTV Spor.

Turkoglu didn’t go into detail as to what the “unacceptable negativities” or who the “people who wanted to harm the team” were. Whatever they were, he was clearly not pleased with what went down.

While he didn’t seem like the most authoritative player during his time in the NBA, it looks as if Turkoglu will need to get tougher if he plans to fix whatever problems he saw during Turkey’s road to EuroBasket.
