Despite making his second straight appearance in the All-Star Game, Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker is hopeful to make his third one all on his own.

Walker wasn't initially selected, but got in as a replacement for New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis, who suffered a torn ACL. The Hornets floor general was rumored to receive interest from the New York Knicks during the weeks prior to the trade deadline, but he stayed put like many others in the roster.

“I think I’ll still be there,’’ Walker told Marc Berman of The New York Post with a smile, knowing that next year's coalition of All-Star would find their home in Charlotte, city that was selected as the host for the 2019 mid-February festivities.

“I was excited, but I wish it wasn’t with KP getting hurt,’’ Walker added. “Everybody hates to see guys go down, especially great players like him. I was able to get the call to replace him. It was still a good feeling.”

Some questioned Walker's selection, given the Hornets' place in the standings, but the 6-foot-1 point man proved worthy, scoring 11 points in 14 minutes as Team LeBron ultimately took home a 148-145 win in an electrifying affair.

Walker has put up very similar numbers to last season, averaging 22.9 points, 5.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game throughout the 55 games he's played and started this season.

The Hornets have lost six of their last 10 games and will look to start their post-break run against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.
