The Charlotte Hornets selected LaMelo Ball with the No. 3 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, making him a franchise cornerstone. After a dynamite rookie season, there's plenty of hype surrounding Ball and his future in the NBA.

When this happens with a player in a small market, especially in today's NBA, many people start the clock on when that young star will look to make a move elsewhere. But the way Ball speaks, the Hornets youngster doesn't seem to be interested in the idea of forcing a trade or leaving anytime soon in an attempt to form a superteam.

Via Joe Vardon of The Athletic:

“I feel like I still kind of got that mentality that they had back in the day,” Ball said. “Even with the switching teams and stuff, they never used to do that. You go to one team, you stay there.”

The Hornets star wasn't done:

“You supposed to just go to a team and build from there — I feel like that’s how it should be,” Ball said. “Especially when you like a high pick too, most likely going to a team that wasn’t as good, so you try to make them better. I feel like that’s the whole process right there.”

It probably helps to have Michael Jordan as the owner, and who knows just what Ball will feel like down the road if he doesn't have his desired success in Charlotte. Players say stuff all the time that ends up not being true.

Still, Jordan, the Hornets and their fans have to love what's coming out of Ball's mouth here. He's dedicated to bringing this franchise to glory and is ready to do all the hard work to make it happen. It's going to be fun to watch LaMelo Ball develop in the coming years.
