The Indianapolis Colts came into the 2021 NFL season hoping to be legitimate contenders in the AFC. After adding quarterback Carson Wentz via a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team was expected to take a step forward. Unfortunately, injuries and a lack of quality play on both sides of the ball from key positions has caused a rough start to the year.

Just how rough of a start has it been for the Colts? Well, obviously the team is 0-3 through the first three weeks of the season. Not only have they not won a game yet, but Indianapolis is also dealing with injuries to Wentz and plenty of other key players.

Frank Reich and company should be concerned about the way they have come out this season. Granted, they have played very good football teams in the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, and Tennessee Titans, but there are some major issues that need to be worked out as soon as possible.

Not everything has been bad for the Colts this season. Prior to his ankle sprains, Wentz was looking like a huge upgrade over Philip Rivers at the quarterback position. He has made quick decisions with the football, made big plays for the offense, shown exceptional leadership, and has overall just been a perfect fit for the offense and with his new teammates.

Looking ahead to Week 4 action, the Indianapolis Colts have a great chance to pick up their first win of the season. Let's take a look at four bold predictions for Indianapolis in their matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

Indianapolis Colts Week 4 Predictions

4. Jonathan Taylor Finally Puts Together A Monster Performance

Following his rookie season last year with the Colts, many fans and media members were expecting a massive year from running back Jonathan Taylor. He ended his rookie season with 232 carries for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns. Taylor also ended up catching 36 passes for 299 yards and a touchdown last year.

Through the first three games of the 2021 season, Taylor has only recorded 171 rushing yards and no touchdowns on 42 carries. He has also caught eight passes for 70 yards and no touchdowns.

Going up against the Dolphins, Taylor will finally put together a big-time game. We are predicting that Taylor will rush for at least 115 yards and a touchdown. He will also catch at least five passes for 40 yards.

3. The Secondary Finally Steps Up

Granted, this prediction has to be taken with a grain of salt. The Dolphins will not have starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the field, as he is still dealing with a rib injury. Instead, former Colts' starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett will be the starter for Miami.

Brissett isn't a bad quarterback though and the Indianapolis Colts will have to be ready for him. The secondary has looked rough through the first three games of the season, letting way too many big plays happen and having a rough time making plays in third-down situations. This week, the Colts are going to like what they see from their secondary.

Indianapolis has plenty of talent in their secondary. Xavier Rhodes, Julian Blackmon, Kenny Moore, Rock Ya-Sin, and company are more than capable of being a dangerous unit. They will show that this week with a strong performance against the Dolphins.

2. Indianapolis Carson Wentz Puts Together Another Masterful Game

The Colts, as we previously mentioned, have to like what they have seen so far from Wentz through three games. He has completed 60.4 percent of his pass attempts for 692 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Wentz has also picked up 60 yards on the ground.

Wentz looked rough against the Titans last week, mainly due to the fact that he was playing on two sprained ankles. He was unable to get outside of the pocket to extend plays, which was rough with the struggles that the Colts' offensive line has had. No one should read too much into that performance or hate on Wentz for it.

Against the Dolphins, Wentz will be able to get more healthy and will have another big game. He will end up throwing for at least 275 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Those numbers are exactly what the Colts need from him.

1. Indianapolis Colts Finally Picks Up Their First Win Of The Season

Last, but certainly not least, we are predicting that the Colts will end up winning this matchup with the Dolphins. They certainly should, as they are a much better all-around football team on paper. With Tagovailoa out, it gives them an even better chance to win this game.

Wentz and company are desperate for a win and will be playing with a major sense of urgency. That will lead the team to a very convincing win over Miami.

Even though the Indianapolis Colts got off to a brutal start to the season, no one should count them out. The roster still hasn't been healthy together and some key players are on the mend, including Wentz. If they can get their feet back under them starting this week, Indianapolis could still end up being a playoff-caliber team.
