Jared Sullinger has made a number of headlines recently as he is reportedly working his way up once again for an NBA team to show interest in his services. After being waived by the Phoenix Suns in February, he has yet to play in the league again, and is apparently struggling to maintain his weight, which is something that’s been a concern about him in the past years.

With not a lot of people believing he can still play at the highest level, he received a boost to his quest for a comeback as his former teammate, Isaiah Thomas, campaigned for him to be noticed by scouts. Following a tweet made by Sullinger, the 5-foot-9 point guard posted a tweet of his own, crediting him for looking healthy and in shape.

Thomas and Sullinger played together from 2014-2016 and have maintained a strong connection despite not being in the same team anymore. The tweet made by the two-time All-Star also shows how much trust and confidence he has in his friend’s game, and knows that he can contribute immediately to any team that will sign him.

Sullinger is an Ohio State product and a five-year pro, appearing for the Boston Celtics and last season with the Toronto Raptors, before being included in a trade deadline deal that shipped him to Phoenix. He owns career averages of 10.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 24.3 minutes per game. If he can prove that he can remain healthy and not overweight, he can generate some interest from teams needing to have more depth at the four and five spots, and Sullinger could turn out as a low risk-high reward prospect for them.
