The Jacksonville Jaguars lost their most viable receiving option with the departure of Allen Robinson this NFL offseason. Fortunately, they are optimistic about the state of their receiving corps heading into the 2018 NFL season.
One player that has turned heads during training camp was receiver Dede Westbrook. According to John Oehser of the team's official website, Westbrook could etch out a significant role for himself in the passing game.
Jacksonville selected Westbrook in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. His career got off to a slow start after seeing little action in the beginning of the year.
However, he began to emerge as a solid option in the passing game for quarterback Blake Bortles down the final stretch of the season. He ultimately finished the 2017 campaign with 27 receptions for 339 yards and a touchdown.
With Robinson gone, this has left a noticeable void in the receiving game. That said, Westbrook is just one of the many pass-catchers that will need to step it up this year. The receiving corps is currently headed by Marqise Lee and Donte Moncrief. Meanwhile, the Jaguars have also been impressed with the development of wideouts such as DJ Clark Jr. and Keelan Cole. That said, it will be interesting to see how the pecking order shakes out.
