The Jacksonville Jaguars made headlines with the signing of quarterback Nick Foles. It seems they were finally able to make the move official.

There was plenty of speculation regarding Foles' future following an impressive stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. The start of the Foles era in Jacksonville has now officially begun, via Twitter:

It is no secret that the Jaguars have long been plagued by lackluster play under center. They had made quite the investment in quarterback Blake Bortles over the years. They even signed him to an extension prior to the 2018 campaign.

Of course, it did not take long for them to realize their mistake and made it a point to bring Foles in this offseason.

At this point, it is safe to say that this is an immediate upgrade under center for Jacksonville. Although he had largely served as the backup quarterback in Philadelphia, Foles was undoubtedly the key to their success over the last two seasons. It can even be argued that the Eagles played better with him under center than quarterback Carson Wentz.

Despite Foles' pedigree as a Super Bowl MVP, he will still have his work cut out in Jacksonville. The Jaguars are still in the midst of re-patching all their issues from last season. The front office would be doing their new quarterback a tremendous service by surrounding him with as much talent as possible this offseason.

Foles will likely be tasked with lifting the Jaguars back into playoff relevancy come next season.
