What does Jim Harbaugh think of this? The Jacksonville Jaguars have the first overall pick and a brand new head coach in Urban Meyer. The Jaguars are about to have a new general manager for their franchise, and Meyer and company are eager to get to work.

Baalke was hired as the Jaguars' director of player personnel back in February and took over as the interim general manager after the dismissal of Dave Caldwell in late November.

The hiring of Baalke is a seamless one for the Jaguars. Baalke was the GM for the San Francisco 49ers with Jim Harbaugh from 2011 to 2016.

It seemed a bit off that the Jaguars hired a new head coach before appointing a general manager, but the hiring of Baalke makes sense.

Baalke's track record of working with ex-college coaches includes Jim Harbaugh with the 49ers, Chip Kelly also with San Francisco, and now will have another shot with another former college coach in Urban Meyer with the Jaguars.

While this hire might be a bit of a question mark due to Baalke's time in San Francisco, the Jaguars have a lot of assets to work with, and Baalke and Meyer will get to work to fill out the staff and hammer out free agent targets.

Of course, the Jaguars have the top pick in the draft in what is presumed to be Trevor Lawrence, and they have over $75 million in cap space to work with after a 1-15 season in 2020. They also have 11 draft picks in the upcoming draft, so the room to work with is there for the new GM and new head coach.

Trent Baalke is once again an NFL general manager, and hopefully, this time around with the Jaguars will end better than it did in San Francisco.
