Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette had a huge rookie season rushing for over 1000 yards and nine touchdowns. Even with such a nice season, he dealt with injuries most of the season and he knows he could have done more. Fournette was motivated this offseason and knew losing weight was a big key. He is coming into training camp 12 pounds lighter and he feels like he is primed to have a big season that might look like one he had with the LSU Tigers.

“I feel healthier,″ Fournette said via the Florida Times-Union. “I want to be great. That’s my weight – what I felt best at in college my sophomore year when I was up for the Heisman. I just want to take it back there.″

Others have noticed an improved Fournette including Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue who has seen an extra boost in speed.

“Yeah, I feel like he’s faster, just from seeing him catching the ball and exploding,″ Ngakoue said. “I’ve seen him a couple of times, he caught a couple of routes and just was hitting it down the sideline. I can tell he’s been working hard. I’m definitely proud of him as well.″

Fournette and the rest of the running backs got a big boost this offseason when All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell signed with the Jaguars. He should help an offensive line that was good last year take a bigger step forward this year and that should help Fournette have an even bigger year. As long as he stays healthy this could be a season for the record book.
