The blockbuster trade between the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers was arguably the biggest of the season. Ben Simmons wanted out of Philadelphia, and James Harden wanted out of New York. It was a win-win situation all around. However, Kevin Durant doesn't think of it like that. He recently revealed to The Ringer that when Harden forced the trade, he indirectly lied to Durant.

According to the article, Harden “twice reassured” Durant that he planned on signing a long-term extension with the Nets ahead of the 2021-2022 season. Clearly, Harden went back on his word, forcing the trade months later.

Durant suffered a sprained MCL, which forced him to miss 21 games between mid-January and the beginning of March. Midway through his absence, Harden was traded and sent off to Philadelphia.

“It wasn’t like it was a disconnect between us as individuals. I felt like we liked each other…But I was focusing on rehab and he was focusing on the team. Naturally, I wasn’t around the group, but I can’t control how everybody feels…I can’t stress myself out wondering how somebody else feels about the situation,” quote courtesy of The Ringer.

According to the article, Durant is coming to terms with the situation and is more focused on what he can bring to the Nets moving forward. Heading into April, the NBA regular season is winding down and both teams are preparing for their respective playoffs runs.
