The Kansas Jayhawks had lost 56 straight Big 12 road games heading into their matchup against the Texans Longhorns on Saturday night. The Jayhawks were also a 31.5-point underdog in the game at FanDuel, despite the Longhorns being on a four-game losing streak.

What followed was one of the wildest games and upsets of the season, with Kansas pulling out a 57-56 victory over Texas thanks to a 2-point conversion in overtime. That 2-point conversion was made even crazier by the fact that it was caught by fullback Jared Casey, who hadn't caught a pass this season.

The win snapped that crazy Big 12 road losing streak that dated back to 2008, and it also snapped an eight-game losing streak this season for Kansas. Meanwhile, Texas has now lost five games in a row for the first time since 1956. So, there was a lot going on in this game.

The Jayhawks had a great chance to win this game in regulation after an interception with just over a minute to play, but the Longhorns forced a punt and got great field position after a strong return. Texas quickly scored on a Casey Thompson touchdown pass to Cade Brewer with 22 seconds left, forcing overtime.

The Longhorns got the ball first in overtime and scored a touchdown, but the Jayhawks answered right back with a score and then went for the win. It was successful, leading to Kansas players storming the field.

Here are highlights from the end of the game:

Kansas coach Lance Leipold didn't hesitate to go for 2 and the win, and he was so proud of his team after the big victory.

Via ESPN:

“It really says a lot about the young men we have in the locker room,” coach Lance Leipold said. “They've been starving. It's one win. We have to build on it.”

As for Texas, the start of the Steve Sarkisian era is quickly turning into a disaster. The Longhorns began this season 4-1 but have lost every game since. Texas hasn't had a losing season since 2016 but now must win its last two games to get to 6-6 and become bowl eligible.
