The Utah Jazz have some big decisions to make this offseason. As a result, there is now plenty of speculation regarding the future of power forward Derrick Favors.

Favors is set to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, he made it clear that he would like to go to a contender if the Jazz do not re-sign him:

“It is what it is,” Favors said. “I’m not going to stress over it. I’m going to enjoy life that whole week. If I have to leave, I want to go to a contender because I want to compete at the highest level. I definitely want to go somewhere I can compete for a championship.”

It is encouraging to see that Favors has taken a rather optimistic approach to the prospect of being traded. His comments are certainly understandable considering he has endured his fair share of trials and tribulations in Utah. At this point in his career, he is looking to compete in the playoffs on a consistent basis.

The question now remains is which contenders share a mutual interest. Recent rumors suggest the Los Angeles Lakers could be interested in acquiring Favors' services. They managed to shift the landscape of the NBA in their favor with the acquisition of New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis.

Derrick Favors would make for an intriguing option since his skill set would allow him to play center with Davis at power forward. Even if there is little truth to the reports, there should be no shortage of potential suitors this offseason.
