Rudy Gobert caught a lot of flack after his Utah Jazz easily handled the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.

After the game, Anthony Edwards explained that their struggle to score in the 32-point defeat was of their own doing, claiming the Jazz star was not all that intimidating as his three DPOY awards suggest.

Via Chris Hine:

“Anytime I go against [Kristaps] Porzingis, I don’t get no layups,” said Anthony Edwards after their loss to the Jazz. “I don’t get why we couldn’t finish on Rudy Gobert. He don’t put no fear in my heart. I don’t know why.”

Porzingis is no slouch as a rim-protector himself, but the Dallas Mavericks big man has lost a lot of his mobility since Edwards came into the league and has never even made an All-Defensive team. Jazz swingman Joe Ingles was asked about the comments against Gobert. The Aussie veteran was clearly befuddled by such a comment, even questioning how much basketball Anthony Edwards actually consumes.

Via Eric Walden:

“I mean, I don’t understand. For Edwards to say that Porzingis is more intimidating than Rudy is hilarious. They obviously don’t watch enough basketball,” said Ingles. “Maybe Porzingis blocked him one time or something. I don’t know. … It’s bizarre to me.”

The Jazz and Timberwolves play again later this month. Both sides will definitely be looking to prove a point in that contest.
