The running gag inside the Utah Jazz locker room has been starting point guard Mike Conley's athleticism, or in this case, lack thereof. Apparently, his teammate Jordan Clarkson has been having a blast poking fun at the grizzled veteran all season long.

Little did they know that Conley would prove them all wrong in a critical juncture of the Jazz's home game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.

After the Jazz escaped with a close 117-114 win at Vivint Smart Home Arena, Clarkson talked about Conley's crucial jump ball in the final seconds of regulation that sealed the victory. According to this year's Sixth Man of the Year frontrunner, his team already made a bet about Conley's inability to dunk, whereas they should bet if he can win a jump ball.

“Ha! Mike got bounce! There's a rolling bet in the locker room on whether he'll dunk. We should've had a bet on if he could win a jump ball. He wears Jordans—they only sign guys who dunk,” the Jazz Sixth Man said of Conley, via Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune.

The Jazz was in a precarious position in the end game since they only held a three-point lead with some time left on the clock. It didn't help that their 33-year-old playmaker was matched up with the Grizz's bouncy youngster Ja Morant in a bid to gain possession. But somehow, someway, Conley outjumped his younger counterpart and milked precious time from the clock by tipping it out of bounds.

Had Memphis won the tip, they would have had ample time to launch a 3-pointer that could have sent the game to an extra five minutes.

Jordan Clarkson may have forgotten that Conley's old man, Mike Conley Sr., is a former track and field superstar. The Jazz vet definitely inherited those great genes.

Conley, meanwhile, has been with the Jordan Brand since 2016 alongside the likes of Russell Westbrook, Zion Williamson and Jayson Tatum, among others. Yes, all those guys are great dunkers and Conley does look like the odd guy from the bunch.

The one-time All-Star finished with a pedestrian outing of just five points, five rebounds and eight assists, but he did come out with the biggest play of the night. Maybe Clarkson will finally tone down those old man jokes after that feat from Conley.
