Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, who is accused of some of the most vile things on the planet, is putting his National Football League franchise up for sale.

The Panthers announced this move via the team's official website:

I believe that it is time to turn the franchise over to new ownership. Therefore I will put the team up for sale at the conclusion of the NFL season. We will not begin the sale process, nor will we entertain any inquiries until the very last game is played. I hope everyone in this organization, both on and off the field, will be firmly focused on just one mission: to play and win the Super Bowl.

While I will no longer be the team owner, I will always be the Panthers Number One fan.

For those unaware, Jerry Richardson is accused of inappropriate, likely illegal behavior. This includes racist comments, sexual misconduct, and a slew of other things that are likely the primary reason for the sudden decision to put the franchise up for sale.

It will be interesting to see how the National Football League handles this. While the league would likely prefer this to happen quickly, it won't be incredibly easy moving a (roughly) billion dollar company in great haste.
