In what has already been a brutal season for them, the New York Jets are long overdue for some roster overhaul and a renewed game plan this offseason. In spite of this, they played a hard-fought game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 15 and showed a ton of brass against their longtime division rival in a 31-24 defeat. With Zach Wilson back under center for the Jets, things seem unpredictable for them on offense given their endless struggles this season.

However, Wilson did go the entire game against the Dolphins without throwing a single pick, which was a sign of some progress for the struggling rookie quarterback. He did lose one fumble, get sacked six times and wasn't able to lead a game-tying touchdown drive at the end, but the fact that he was mostly able to take care of the ball despite being under duress was a step in the right direction.

So as the Jets work to find a winning solution and try to finish off their tumultuous 2021 NFL campaign with a few positive takeaways, we'll now discuss the two biggest takeaways from their tough Week 15 loss to the Dolphins.

New York Jets Week 15 Takeaways

1. The Jets shouldn't give up on Zach Wilson just yet

Even though he has had a rough go of it this season, Zach Wilson has still had a few flashes of greatness and in due time he could thrive as New York's starting quarterback of the future. With a ton of hard work this summer and a continued commitment to growing and developing his game each season, Wilson could become one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the NFL. Under the direction of Robert Saleh and Mike LaFleur, Wilson is bound for greatness and will only get better with time.

2. C.J. Mosley has been a bright spot for New York all season long

After leading the team in tackles once again in Week 15, C.J. Mosley showcased his defensive skill set and led the way for the Jets during their disappointing loss to the Dolphins. In their efforts to build a winning culture in New York, Saleh and the Jets' coaching staff have seen a ton of potential on the defensive side of the field, and that starts with Mosley's talent and leadership.

His brute force and relentlessness have made him a tough cover for opposing offensive lines all season long. As New York works to build an elite defensive unit, building around a rising star like Mosley will only do wonders for them. With Mosley's continued rise to stardom and the Jets in a transitional phase, this is a partnership that's definitely built to last.

In his first season as head coach of the Jets, Saleh hasn't had the outcome he was expecting. But like any big change, it takes time for the team to fully adjust. Plus, with so many moving pieces and a ton of new schemes being added to the playbook, it hasn't been easy to implement the desired changes.

Given all that the team has been through this year, there's no doubt that they'll continue to make the necessary changes this summer. While this season has been rough once again for the Jets, Sunday's close loss to the Dolphins showed that there's some reason for optimism moving forward for this franchise.
