Although voluntary workouts are in full swing for the New York Jets, there is one notable absence in running back Le'Veon Bell. Fortunately, head coach Adam Gase does not seem to be too perturbed by it.

Bell's absence has raised some certainly questions. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Gase reminded the media that workouts are still voluntary.

“It’s voluntary,” Gase said.

It is clear that Gase is not looking to get too worked up over Bell's absence. Other teams around the league have criticized some of their players for not showing up regardless. However, Gase seems to be taking an open-minded approach when it comes to Bell's lack of participation.

There is certainly good reason for him to do so. After all, Bell has spent the last two offseasons working out on his own due to the failed contract negotiations with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It is safe to say that he has become accustomed to doing his own thing around this time of year. Gase is undoubtedly well aware of this and could be giving his star back the benefit of the doubt.

The Jets were allowed to have a minicamp this week since Gase is in his first year as a head coach for the team. However, New York is not slated to have mandatory workouts until June. This could be why Bell opted to continue his workouts at home until players are designated to show up. Only then will it be time for Gase to start expressing his concern.
