New York Jets quarterback Mike White sent a strong message to all the teams that let him slip all the way to the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

White firmly believes in himself. So much so that he believes he should have been the overall #1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith detailed, White did not know why NFL teams looked past him when they were scouting quarterbacks that offseason.

That’s definitely the scouting departments across the league and what their interpretation of me is… I have 100 percent confidence in myself. So if you ask me, I should have been a first overall pick. But that’s neither here nor there. That’s four years ago. I try to get my mind off that and be in the here and now and execute what my job is right now.”

White burst onto the scene two weeks ago. New York Jets starting quarterback Zach Wilson suffered a sprained PCL in their Week 7 loss to the New England Patriots.

Mike White took over the following week and lit up the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals were coming off a season-defining win over the Baltimore Ravens and sat atop the AFC. They were the talk of the town, until Mike White showed up.

White went 37-45 for 405 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Jets to an upset win over the Bengals, 34-31.

The New York Jets drafted Wilson #2 overall in this past NFL Draft. He has struggled mightily so far this season. If Mike White continues to impress, New York might be left with a very difficult decision on their hands.
