For the man who enjoyed a career-year at the ripe age of 38, returning is the wish.

Josh McCown, 38, has played for eight NFL teams over the course of 15 years. Not until this past season with the New York Jets had he put up numbers that turned heads.

Nearly 3,000 yards and 18 touchdowns to nine interceptions in 13 games was his stat-line in 2017, and as of this moment, the man who looks like Ivan Drago from Rocky IV is leaning towards a 16th NFL season.

On Wednesday, McCown was a guest on NFL Network's Total Access and revealed his current feelings about his future employment, via Connor Huges of NJ.com.

“Right now, that’s how it’s looking,” McCown said on NFL Network’s Total Access, via nj.com, when asked if he 100 percent wants to play. “At this time of the year, I go through those conversations with my family, talk with them through that, pray through that.

“But where we’re at right now, I feel like I want to play … I’m looking forward to the next few months, seeing what happens, and I’ll be ready to go.”

The former Sam Houston State QB also indicated he'd love to return to Florham Park, New Jersey.

“It was still a fun season. We still did some good things. Hopefully, we can build on those things.”

The Jets are set to pick sixth in the 2018 NFL Draft—a draft loaded with elite quarterback talent. Names such as Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield have been and will continue to be linked to the Jets until the draft officially commences. Free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins is another avenue the cap-empty Jets could pursue.

While McCown is set to officially become a free agent in March, much of the Jets brass, including head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan, have indicated that they'd like him back.

It's extremely probable McCown serves as that perfect stopgap or backup QB for Gang Green next season.
