The New York Jets' most important offseason assignment is to figure out whether their investment in quarterback Zach Wilson in last year's NFL Draft was a wise one. The most logical way for the Jets to do that is to surround Wilson with as much talent as they possibly can. With their two latest signings, New York did just that. Free agent offensive guard Laken Tomlinson and free agent wide receiver Braxton Berrios, who is one of the Jets' own free agents, just signed new agreements with the franchise during the free agency period, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Laken Tomlinson, who played for the San Francisco 49ers this past season, was one of the better available guards in the free agency period. Tomlinson earned strong grades for both his pass and run blocking, making the reported three-year, $41.2 million deal a wise investment for the Jets. But they also retained one of their own playmakers in Braxton Berrios.

Berrios will net $12 million over the course of a two-year deal that will also guarantee him $7 million. Berrios, 26, totaled career-highs in targets, receptions and receiving yards while appearing in 16 games for the Jets last year.

Between Tomlinson and Berrios, the Jets are clearly committed to surrounding Wilson with all of the resources needed to play the quarterback position successfully.
