Jamal Adams is one of the biggest question marks for the New York Jets this offseason. The strong safety was one of the few exciting players last season, but signs are pointing towards the Jets not prioritizing his signature for the coming season.

ESPN's NFL Nation is making a bold prediction about the offseason fortunes of the 32 teams in the league, and the 24-year-old Adams is front and center of the Jets' offseason. While Adams is looking forward to extending his stint with the Jets, the team will be prioritizing other needs in the spring.

Adams says he expects to have a new deal, but the Jets will slow-play the negotiations because they have the leverage. They have rights to him for two more years, plus a third if they use the franchise tag, so there's no sense of urgency. They will prioritize other needs before getting to Adams' contract, which won't make him happy.

On the Jets' defense, there are plenty of positions that they need to fill out. The offensive line and the receivers are positions that need to be sorted out, so it's understandable that they are looking to improve as much as they can. Since Adams wants to stay with the Jets, they have the advantage on the negotiation table. However, he won't likely be pleased if they delay his contract any further.

Adams got his first All-Pro honors last season. In the 14 games he played this season, he's gotten 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, two forced fumbles, seven pass deflections, and one interception for a 61-yard pick-6. Hopefully, he wouldn't be tempted to talk with other teams while waiting for his contract to be ironed out.
