The New York Jets announced Friday the signing of wide receiver Quincy Enunwa to a multi-year contract extension. Pro Football Weekly's Eric Edholm reports the deal is for four years with a maximum value of $36 million. The deal also features an injury guarantee of a little over $20 million.

From the team press release:

“I knew when I got here that I wanted to be a Jet for a very long time,” Enunwa said while he was signing his contract. “Now, I'll get my opportunity and it feels really good.”

“I'm excited for the future and for some more big plays,” Enunwa said. “And I think there is a lot in store for us as a team.”

Enunwa has caught 38 passes for 449 yards and a touchdown this season. The 26-year-old has dealt with some injury problems and isn't expected to play in New York's regular-season finale due to an ankle issue.

The Jets drafted Enunwa in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Nebraska. He was released by the team before the season but quickly joined the practice squad. He only appeared in one game as a rookie and didn't record a single statistic.

Enunwa was suspended for four games in 2015 for violating the league's personal conduct policy, but he broke out in 2016 with 58 catches for 857 yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately, he missed the entire 2017 campaign due to bulging discs in his neck.

While Quincy Enunwa didn't have the best of returns in 2018, the Jets clearly see him as a key piece moving forward.
