The New York Jets were thoroughly dismantled at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. Unfortunately, the biggest highlight of the night came between quarterback Sam Darnold and head coach Adam Gase.

The two were spotted sharing a heated exchange during the 42-21 loss, via NFL Update:

It is difficult to decipher what it is exactly the two were arguing about. However, the reaction by backup quarterback David Fales is telling of which words were likely being exchanged.

To no surprise, the Jets offense struggled to find any rhythm against this formidable Ravens defense. Darnold completed 18 of 32 passes for 218 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Most of his success came late with the game well out of reach in garbage time.

There is no question that New York has endured its fair share of struggles throughout the 2019 NFL season. One of the biggest concerns is whether or not Darnold is developing under center the way he should be. As a result, Gase has seemingly landed in the hot seat heading into the offseason.

Disputes between head coaches and quarterbacks are hardly uncommon. Tempers flare, and the competitive nature of the game can ramp up emotions. Regardless, this is hardly an encouraging sign that the Jets are starting to figure things out with two games left in the 2019 campaign.

At this point, the team is hoping to end on a high note and build on that momentum in the offseason. It remains to be seen whether or not they will be able to take care of that first part.
