The New York Jets are going to be without starting quarterback Sam Darnold for the foreseeable future, maybe for the rest of the 2020 season.

Darnold spoke to Jets reporters on Monday and said his AC sprain still needs more time to heal, per Connor Hughes of The Athletic.

The Jets are 0-9 on the season. They had Week 10 off as their bye week and will take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.

Veteran gunslinger Joe Flacco will get the start since Sam Darnold is still injured. The former Super Bowl champion has four touchdown passes on the season and two interceptions.

In six games this season for the Jets, Darnold has thrown for 1,045 yards while completing just 58.6 percent of his passes. He has three touchdowns and six interceptions. The former USC star has been a turnover machine ever since he got drafted by New York. Darnold has 34 interceptions in 32 games in the NFL.

All signs point toward the Jets getting the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. They are expected to select Trevor Lawrence assuming he leaves college for the pros.

It's unknown if Jets head coach Adam Gase will be back next season. Most New York fans are hoping he's fired and the franchise hires a bright young head coach who can turn the organization around.

A Jets team has never gone 0-16 during a season. It's quite possible they do this season, though, since they are putrid on both sides of the football.
