New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold knows that the NFL season is going to look a little different if there are no fans allowed in the stands this fall. Darnold made an appearance on ESPN Radio, to talk all things football, including what the outlook of next season might be.

Darnold said if there were no fans in the stands, it would take some getting used to being able to hear his calls to his Jets offensive teammates. He also said there would be an adjustment period that would have to take place, but he knows everyone is in the same boat. Via SNY:

“It would be a little bit different, obviously, not having the fans there. They’re part of what makes this sport. The fans are really what makes sports great in general. Just the atmosphere that they create in the stadium. Besides that, I think not having fans there … Just being able to hear my calls pretty loud and clear. It’ll be different, to say the least. I think if that’s the case, there might be a little adjustment period. But again, everyone’s gonna have to adapt and get used to it.”

It's still a few months out, but it seems it's becoming more and more a real possibility that there won't be fans in the stands. One big impact this could have is on the home field advantage. Home teams could certainly lose the benefits they get from the local crowd, Jets included. Darnold, though, knows adaptation will have to come swiftly to move beyond the new reality.
