Heading into this summer, much of the anticipated talk surrounding the Chicago Bulls will be focused primarily on All-Star forward Jimmy Butler‘s long-term future with the franchise.

Despite the Bulls' season ending in late April, the front office held another meeting with Butler on Monday that K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reported as going well between both sides.

Back in Chicago after spending much of the last month working out in Los Angeles, Jimmy Butler had what one source described as a “positive” season-ending exit meeting with management Monday.

Throughout the entire process, Butler has continued to voice his strong commitment to Chicago for the long haul. His name has constantly been in trade rumors over the last year being linked to the likes of the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves.

All of this chatter originated prior and during the 2016 NBA Draft.  However, it all simmered down after the Bulls added both Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo in free agency. That talk continued to remain in the background this past season despite the Bulls' sub-par play that plagued them for much of the year.

Butler currently has three years left on his five-year, $92.3 million deal. He is slated to make $18.7 million next season and does possess a player option worth $19.8 million for the 2019-20 campaign. With all that in mind, it's evident that the Bulls for at least the time being want Butler to remain the face of the franchise moving forward.
