UFC Vegas 93: Alex Perez vs. Tatsuro Taira continues on the prelims with a fight in the men's flyweight division between Jimmy Flick and Nate Maness. Flick snapped a two-fight losing streak by getting the second-round submission in his last fight meanwhile, Maness was able to get back on track after dropping two straight fights when he got a first-round finish in his last fight. With that said, check out our UFC odds series for our Flick-Maness prediction and pick.

Jimmy Flick (17-7) bounced back after suffering back-to-back TKO defeats to Charles Johnson and Alessandro Costa by submitting Malcolm Gordon in round two after a dicey round one. Flick is a submission specialist and he will be looking to rack up yet another submission victory when he faces off against Nate Maness this weekend at UFC Vegas 93.

Nate Maness (15-3) lost to a Dagestan Umar Nurmagomedov at 135 lbs which prompted his move to 125 lbs only to meet up with another Dagestan Tagir Ulanbekov who submitted him in the first round. He was then able to bounce back by finishing Mateus Mendonca with a TKO in round one. Now, Maness will be looking to extend his winning streak to two in a row when he faces off against Jimmy Flick this weekend.

Why Jimmy Flick Will Win

Jimmy Flick burst onto the scene with one of the only flying triangle submission victories in UFC history against Cody Durden. After some family issues, Flick decided to retire only to come back to competition two years later. That is when Flick just jumped right into the deep end when he took on Charles Johnson and Alessandro Costa who both finished him via TKO. Flick was able to save his career and get back on track when he submitted Malcolm Gordon in his last fight and now will be looking to keep his momentum going this weekend against Nate Maness.

Flick always puts on exciting fights when he steps inside the Octagon and this weekend will be no different. He will be at a disadvantage on the feet like he normally is so he will need to do what he does best and that is put on a relentless grappling pace that Maness will not be able to keep up. It will be up to Flick to get this fight to the mat any way he possibly can and if he's able to get it there, there is a good chance we see another highlight reel submission victory this weekend.

Why Nate Maness Will Win

Nate Maness was riding a four-fight winning streak coming into his fight with Umar Nurmagomedov who ultimately dominated him in the grappling and got the decision victory. Maness and his coaches then made the decision for him to make the move down to flyweight and then got a matchup with Tagir Ulanbekov who submitted him via standing guillotine in the first round. After almost a year's layoff, Maness got back on track when he finished Mateus Mendonca in the first round giving him his first win in his new weight class. Now, Maness will be looking to get his first winning streak in the flyweight division when he takes on Jimmy Flick.

Maness is a dangerous finisher who has finished 3 out of his 4 wins inside the Octagon with 2 out of those 4 coming by knockout. Knowing that Jimmy Flick lives and dies by the submission, Maness will need to do everything that he can to avoid grappling and getting taken down. While Flick isn't the worst striker, Maness has a clear advantage on the feet. The longer this fight stays on the feet the chances increase of Maness getting the finish. As long as this fight doesn't hit the mat it should be Maness' to lose.

Final Jimmy Flick-Nate Maness Prediction & Pick

This is going to be a great scrap between these two flyweights. Jimmy Flick is going to need to sell out in the grappling in this fight and that means getting this fight to the mat in any way that he can. Maness is by far a more powerful striker than both Charles Johnson and Alessandro Costa and look how bad that ended for him. Ultimately, things start out on the feet with Flick looking to throw some calf kicks and the occasional high kick but once Maness touches his chin Flick will be forced to shoot for takedowns, from there Maness may get taken down briefly but he's then able to work his way back to the feet and that's where Maness lands something flush and gets Flick out of there for the first round finish.
