Joanna Jedrzejczyk has not fought since March 2020 when she put on a fight ‘fight of the year' against Weili Zhang. The UFC strawweight may have lost the fight but no one truly counted it as a loss.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk has been on the sidelines and it seemed complicated to figure out when she'll return. Some even thought the Polish fighter was retired from the UFC.

“Everyone thinks I’m not in the UFC anymore,” Jedrzejczyk told Kanal Sportowy. (transcription via Sport.pl) “I am, I just dropped out of the ranking, because I haven’t fought for a dozen or so months, but I’m coming back and fighting [the No. 1 contender]. It will probably be Zhang Weili.”

The former UFC strawweight champion isn't sure when she'll return yet but doesn't want to wait too long. She had a few options but now it seems there is only one fight that truly makes sense for her.

“I thought it might be Carla Esparza, but [it’s] confirmed that she is the next to fight the championship,” Jedrzejczyk said. “Somewhere there is [Maria] Rodriguez, who also fights Yan [Xiaonan] in March, and [then it] becomes Zhang Weili. I don’t see any other fight. Just going for the belt.

“Dana [White] made me an offer to fight for the championship, but I would have to wait until November-December and I don’t want to wait. I want to fight.”

It will be interesting to see what the UFC will do with Joanna Jedrzejczyk once she returns to the cage. The Polish fighter doesn't seem to have too many options and wants to remain in the title picture at the top of the division.
