There are reports the New Orleans Pelicans are listening to trade offers concerning Jrue Holiday. Holiday's value is interesting because he's not exactly a superstar. However, he was an All-Star back in 2013, and a 20-point per game scorer. Moreover, players like Kevin Durant have said he's the best defensive player in the NBA.

On the daily Locked On Pelicans Podcast, host Jake Madison break down the Jrue Holiday trade rumors and which teams make the most sense in a trade with New Orleans.

Jake Madison: I'm less worried about a lot of the ancillary pieces. My question always comes down to who's the best player in the trade and are you happy with that kind of as the centerpiece for your return… So if it's not Michael Porter Jr. I'm not interested in that Nuggets deal, With the Miami Heat, if Tyler Herro isn't in there, I'm not all that interested… Say Miami put a package together… headlined by Kendrick Nunn and a couple of first-round picks… I'd probably do it but I'm not all that excited about it…

Say you look at the Golden State Warriors. They have the second overall pick in the draft, they have a future Minnesota pick, and they'll trade you Andrew Wiggins. I'm less interested in that because I don't want long term money coming in that Wiggins contrac. You'd have to figure you package a pick with him just to get his contract off your book so basically your trading Jrue for the second overall pick. I'm not quite there with all of that just yet…

Then there's the Nets with Caris Levert, but they don't apparently want to include Jarrett Allen in a deal. You could look to the north to the Milwaukee Bucks, would they potentially make a move for Jrue Holliday, they'd like to. I think he makes more sense for them than Chris Paul potentially does. I just don't know if there's that appealing of a package there, those first-round picks don't look very good.

The other team, though, that I haven't really seen mentioned that I could kind of get behind to some degree doesn't normally get mentioned as a contender, but they would like to become a contender. They'd like to become a playoff contender this coming season and that is the Atlanta Hawks. That's a team that's pretty young, Trae Young, John Collins, a couple of other guys too. They really want to try and improve and get into the playoffs and really make some noise with that young team and there's apparently some pressure from ownership.

So coming in and trying to get Jrue Holliday would make some sense for them, he would immediately make them better. They also have the sixth pick in the Draft. We talked about it yesterday show if the  Pelicans are looking to trade up, six would make some sense. You'd like to get there because you can probably get Killian Hayes at that spot guy… That's an intriguing start, the sixth overall pick in this draft if there's someone you really liked, and kind of combined with the fact that maybe the Pelicans are looking to move up, maybe there is someone they like so a deal like this could potentially happen.
