It seems the best way to get inside of Khamzat Chimaev's head is not by stuffing his takedowns or hitting hard. It's about having the one thing Gilbert Burns has… kids. The UFC welterweight revealed he had a soft side after the fight.

Khamzat Chimaev is known for being a killer in the cage and one of the true tough guys in the sport. Gilbert Burns' kids actually made it tough for him to keep that same mindset when he challenged him at UFC 273.

Khamzat Chimaev spoke at the UFC 273 post-fight press conference where he explained his true mentality going into fights. ‘Borz' has a lot of respect for Gilbert Burns and admits he has respect for everyone.

“People think I don’t respect the guys. This is the game, you try to play with his mind and let him make some mistakes. I love that shit. I try to learn something from everyone,” Chimaev told reporters via MMAFighting.

“I respect all my opponents. Everyone do this for his family.”

Gilbert Burns and his kids actually brought out the soft side of Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273 and managed to get in his head. The Swedish fighter has a reputation as a killer that shows no mercy.

“Actually it was a little bit hard to fight him because I see his kids,” he said. “They come to me, ‘Hi, you fight my daddy.’ I say, ‘Shit, f—k. I don’t need that.’

“I don’t want to fight with some daddy. I need some killer like me, somebody that don’t care about that shit. I go to him (after the fight), I said, ‘respect, brother. Sorry for punches.’”
