Sacramento Kings guard Cory Joseph told reporters after practice on Friday that Buddy Hield apologized to the team for the comments he made after the Kings lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.

Hield sat out the entire fourth quarter of the Kings' loss on Monday to the Houston Rockets and played just 4:06 of the fourth quarter on Thursday versus the Timberwolves.

Hield publicly questioned the decisions of Kings head coach Luke Walton:

“Seems like we’re all over the place,” Hield said. “Trust issues going on, I guess. They stop believing in players. It is what it is. I just feel like I’m one of the better players on the team, I should be in there in the fourth quarter, trying to help my team win, regardless. That’s why I’m here, right?”

The Kings have lost five games in a row. They are 12-19 on the season, 10th place in the Western Conference standings.

Dysfunction and the Kings seemingly go together. They have been a walking disaster for years, and they haven't made the playoffs since 2006. Last season was a promising step back towards respectability, but they have a long way to go before becoming true contenders again.

Hield signed a lucrative four-year, $86 million extension with the Kings before the season started, after previously speaking out about being at odds during contract negotiations. He's averaging 20.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists on the season and shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from beyond the arc and 83.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Hield's tension with Walton isn't a new development. He didn't have the best relationship with his previous coach, Dave Joerger, either. Sacramento is hoping Hield and Walton can get on the same page soon so they can continue a push towards the playoffs.
