REPORT: Kings coach Luke Walton being sued for sexual assault, battery

Kings, Luke Walton, Lakers

Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton is reportedly being sued for sexually assaulting a woman, according to TMZ.

The alleged incident reportedly took place before Walton became the head coach of the Lakers back in 2016.

In legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Kelli Tennant claims that sometime before Walton became head coach of the Lakers, he asked her to come meet him at his Santa Monica hotel to discuss a book she was writing. She says the 2 had a business relationship that went back several years and she wanted him to write a foreword.

In the suit, Tennant says when she arrived at Walton’s hotel, he convinced her to come up to his room so they could discuss the book. She claims when they got up to his room, Walton suddenly pinned her to the bed, placing his hips and legs over her body.

The Lakers and Walton parted ways a few weeks ago.

Walton quickly got hired by the Kings, who fired Dave Joerger. The length of Walton’s deal with Sacramento will be in line with that of Kings general manager Vlade Divac, running through the 2022-23 season.

We’ll have more on this story as details come out. The Kings have said, “We are aware of the report and are gathering additional information. We have no further comment at this time.”
