Despite a rousing start to the 2018-19 NBA season, Sacramento Kings coach Dave Joerger was rumored to be in potential danger of losing his job after not playing No. 2 overall selection Marvin Bagley III enough. However, Joerger won't be fired anytime soon, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Joerger has believed since last season that Kings assistant general manager Brandon Williams was on the lookout for a new coach to replace him. Yet Joerger, sources say, is not in danger of being fired anytime soon. Divac, the beloved former King whose hiring in March 2015 was supposed to stabilize this wayward ship, offered his support on Saturday in response to the story.

The Kings are now 8-8 on the season, much better than anyone expected them to do with a relatively young roster and no immediate transformative pieces to put them in the hunt for the Western Conference Playoffs.

Joerger was leading a 6-3 Kings team to start the season after the team racked up an impressive five-game win streak after piecing together a solid East road trip, but after losing five of the last seven games, questions about his usage of the hailed first-round pick surfaced given his lack of minutes.

Bagley has made no starts thus far this season, making all 16 of his appearances from the bench. He has proven to be a capable scorer and stellar shot blocker when given the right minutes, as he scored career highs of 19 and 20 points when given more than 30 minutes in a game, both coming within the first four games of the season.
