The Sacramento Kings are still working to get their puzzle complete, slowly moving pieces around to find a core to last for the future. As it turns out, the team can go after Orlando Magic shooting guard/small forward Mario Hezonja, who has played well as of late with heftier playing time, according to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee.

Hezonja saw some extra minutes at the forward position with the injury to Aaron Gordon, proving to be a knockdown long-range shooter with the ability to rebound and come up with steals on the open floor.

The Croatian native was the fifth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, but the Magic recently declined to pick up his option for next season back in October — despite posting 9.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this season.

The scoring and rebounding numbers are both career highs, but the all-around numbers is still far from the return expected from a top-five pick. The current front office regime did not draft Hezonja, and could easily part ways with him in the offseason, considering the imminent free agency of Gordon.

The Kings' addition of De'Aaron Fox has been a gold mine through the NBA Draft, as the rookie has been growing into his natural point guard position, thanks to extended playing time, after the team traded away veteran George Hill.

Adding another shooter to the core, the same way they did with Bogdan Bogdanovic would only bolster their chances at building something solid in Sacramento for the first time in nearly two decades.
