Could Carmelo Anthony return to the New York Knicks this summer if the franchise is able to sign Kevin Durant in free agency?

Anthony, who hasn't played in an NBA game since Nov. 8, isn't ruling a return to the Knicks out.

“I have to see what's going on,” Anthony said, via Adam Zagoria of SNY. Anthony said he didn't know whether Durant will end up in New York.

“You're asking the wrong person,” said Anthony, who turns 35 next month.

Anthony, of course, played for the Knicks from 2011-17. He's seventh all-time in franchise history in points scored with 10,186.

Anthony's last days with the Knicks were a disaster. Phil Jackson was very open about how the Knicks couldn't win with Anthony. New York traded Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the summer of 2017, ending Melo's tenure in The Big Apple.

The last two seasons for Anthony have been bad. He didn't play well with the Thunder and only stayed in OKC for one season. The Thunder traded Anthony to the Atlanta Hawks last summer. The Hawks waived Melo, who then signed with the Houston Rockets to play with his two pals, Chris Paul and James Harden.

The Anthony experiment in Houston only lasted 10 games before the Rockets decided to exile him. Houston traded Melo to the Chicago Bulls, who then waived. Anthony has been on the open market since February, but no team showed interest in him.

If Durant signs with the Knicks, it would be interesting to see if New York has any interest in bringing Anthony back on a cheap deal.
