The New York Knicks are expected to finally come out swinging next offseason, as they've already started the process of shedding the contracts of their veteran players.

New head coach David Fizdale is confident this front office has put “the bricks in place” to take a swing at some big-time free agents next summer.

“[Knicks general manager] Scott [Perry] and [team president] Steve [Mills] have done an incredible job of lining it up so that we're in a position next summer to make moves,” David Fizdale said Tuesday at the Knicks' summer league practice in Las Vegas, according to ESPN's Ian Begley. “I just feel like with the relationships we've built and our approach to the game and our view of players and the way we view guys and the way we treat guys and the culture we want to build, I really think we're going to find somebody who fits the bill.

“As we get our culture in place, [injured All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis] gets healthy, we start moving into next summer, I really feel like we'll have the bricks in place to make some big moves.”

The 2019 free agent class includes the likes of Kyrie Irving and Jimmy Butler, who have been rumored to want to play together, as Irving has been linked to his hometown Knicks for quite some time.

Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, and Kemba Walker are also part of that free agent class, giving the Knicks plenty of potential targets to look at as they hope to rebuild this roster.

This revamped front office has shown a mixture of an aggressive mindset and diligent work, slowly starting their rebuild through Porzingis while ridding themselves of Carmelo Anthony's massive contract to get their new wave under gear.
