David Fizdale was officially introduced as the next head coach of the New York Knicks on Tuesday morning, and from the sounds of his press conference, he is excited about the young guys that the roster is filled with.

After thanking current players Kyle O'Quinn, Emmanuel Mudiay, Trey Burke, and Lance Thomas for attending the press conference he looked at Mudiay and said: “We're going to get you right.”

“We’re going to get to work, kid. We’re going to get to work. We’re going to get you right and you’re going to be tough to defend and you’re going to be a heck of a defender. We’re going to pick that up.”

Mudiay was selected with the seventh pick in the 2015 draft by the Denver Nuggets and was acquired by the Knicks during this year's trade deadline. At times there have been flashes of how good he can be, but overall he hasn't lived up anywhere close to the hype. He played 22 games with the Knicks, averaging 8.8 points, 3.9 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.

Fizdale isn't the only one excited to get to work, Mudiay is also excited about what his new boss can bring.

“I’ve heard nothing but positive things,’’ Mudiay told The New York Post. “Just excited. Nobody has played with him yet over here except Troy Williams [with the Grizzlies in 2016-17]. But I’m not the only one excited. Everyone else is, too.’’

Coach Fizdale has been known as a really good player-development coach, so there should be some improvements in Mudiay's game heading into next season.
