New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose averaged 25 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and a steal per game in his 2011 MVP campaign. He clearly has a high bar when it comes to performance and per Ian Begley of SNYtv. It should excite Knicks fans then that Rose likes what he sees from his young teammates.

Rose said, “[Immanuel Quickley]He's a dog. He's a dog. I can't explain it. You've got to be a player to understand it. We're in a fight, I know he's fighting.”

Despite being a late first-round pick, Quickley has been producing far above his draft position for New York. In a January 24 game against the Portland Trail Blazers, he finished with 31 points, three rebounds, and four assists.  Quickley's offensive game and his floaters have been a thing of beauty. His playing time has been rather inconsistent, as head coach Tom Thibodeau has an affinity for playing veterans over young players. The Knicks have a glut of guards, such as the aforementioned Rose, Elfrid Payton, Alec Burks, Reggie Bullock, and Austin Rivers.

But Rose clearly understands the value of shaping the up-and-coming Knicks players:

“a mentor to the young guys’ & ‘also show that I can hoop a little bit”

Rose singled out Quickley amongst the Knicks players he would like to help improve. The Knicks have been a mediocre team for years, but if their young talents, such as Quickley, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson are developed properly, a trip to the playoffs and deep runs can be commonplace.
