The New York Knicks aren't playing for anything as their season winds down. After being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, the most useful thing is to let the young players shine. Immanuel Quickley took advantage of the opportunity and accomplished a rare feat.

Quickley lit up the Orlando Magic, recording 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while leading New York to a huge win. His triple-double is the first of his career and is the first triple-double from a Knick since 1991 when Mark Jackson accomplished the feat.

Quickley had enjoyed a rough second season for the Knicks before starting to ramp up his production after the All-Star break. In 20 games since then, he is averaging 15.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from deep in 26.4 minutes per game. His shooting and playmaking make him a valuable piece off the bench, proving so during his rookie season on a Knicks team that made the playoffs.

New York has constantly made the young point guard come off the bench, forcing him into a role where he often can't impact the games as much as he could. Still, whenever he gets going, it's a great sign for the Knicks. His confidence, along with his chemistry with fellow second-year player Obi Toppin, has allowed him to take over games at will.

Although head coach Tom Thibodeau isn't likely to start Quickley, insisting that he is better suited for the role he has, his talents demand playing time.
