Former New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin will match the team's donation for its COVID-19 relief.

Lin delivered a special message to Knicks fans on the team's official Twitter account:

Lin has pledged a lot of money to fight COVID-19. He's donated over $1 million and most of the money was used to get medical equipment to Wuhan, China.

Lin became famous with the Knicks in 2012 with the “Linsanity” era. He's playing in the CBA now.

The former Knicks sensation was part of the Toronto Raptors NBA championship team last season that defeated the Golden State Warriors in six games. Lin wants more positive attention to be brought to this serious subject after seeing news headlines of racism, xenophobia, attacks on Asians, and decaying trust towards people.

The NBA suspended the season after Utah Jazz All-Star Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. As each day passes, it seems unlikely the season will resume.

Lin finished his Knicks career with averages of 14.6 points and 6.2 assists. That “Linsanity” run was one for the ages and Lin figures to be a popular figure in the Big Apple for a while because of it.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended, the Knicks had a record of 21-45. They were in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

The 2012-13 season was the last time the Knicks had a winning record and made the playoffs. That was the season after “Linsanity.”
