Through his first three seasons in the league, New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis has shown to be a uniquely talented and promising player.

Along the way, he was given the nickname of being a “unicorn” from star forward Kevin Durant prior to playing against the Knicks back in January 2016 because of his rare combination of skill set at his size standing at 7-foot-3.

It's something that he has since fully embraced and taking a strong liking to in the process. This was quite evident by the shoes he decided to wear for Monday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers that he took to Snapchat to display.

The 22-year-old has put that on full display this season as he has taken over the face of the franchise role with the departure of Carmelo Anthony as he's averaging career highs with 27.0 points on 46.4 percent shooting from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc along with 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in the first 18 games played.

This also includes becoming the youngest player in Knicks and NBA history to score 30 or more points in five of the first six games of the season. His 414 points in the first 15 contests where he recorded at least 25 points 10 times were the third-highest total in that span behind Hall of Famers Bernard King (493) and Patrick Ewing (438).

Porzingis has taken a significant leap forward in his third campaign that has shown the special offensive talent that he possesses. He has the ability to operate like a guard with his ball handling while being able to create his own shot from just about any spot on the floor. Given that skill set combined with his size standing over seven feet makes him a difficult cover for any big man in the league on a nightly basis.

With Porzingis continuing to show progression in his individual game, it certainly looks like he's setting the table for a promising career in New York.
