Another game, another franchise record New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis has claimed as his own. After topping Bernard King for the most points through nine games in Knicks history, the Unicorn now has usurped Patrick Ewing for the most points through 10 games after his 28-point effort in a 118-113 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Porzingis is now averaging an even 30 points per game through his first 10 contests. That’s good for second in the league behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is now at 31.9 after he dropped 40 on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

More than his consistency, Porzingis’ incredible efficiency as the first option for the Knicks has been astounding. He needed just 29 minutes to score his 28 points against the Hornets, as he shot a blistering 67 percent from the field and went 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Through four games this November, Porzingis is averaging close to a point per minute (31 PPG in 31.5 minutes). He’s also shooting it at a blistering 57 percent from the field.

Thanks to Porzingis’ efforts, the surprising Knicks are among a handful of teams currently tied for third in the East with a 6-4 record through 10 games. It’ll take more of the same terrific performances from Porzingis to keep the Knicks at that position, but given how well he’s started the first 10 games of the season, it might not be the best idea to bet against the Unicorn.
