New York Knicks rookie Mitchell Robinson can swat shots. While the Knicks have scuffled through a miserable season in the wins column, the organization has preached development and has Robinson, their second round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, ever developed.

After recording four blocks in the team's loss Saturday to the Miami Heat, Robinson has now racked up multiple blocks in 24 consecutive games, tying the longest streak set by a rookie since David Robinson did so for the San Antonio Spurs in 1989-90. The Spurs' big man went on to a Hall of Fame career, also having won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1992. The Knicks are hoping that their rookie big man can become even a fraction of what the 1987 first overall pick became.

Robinson will have an excellent chance at extending that streak against the Heat on Monday, as head coach David Fizdale has seemingly turned the starting center spot over to him. With DeAndre Jordan getting a DNP on Saturday, with Robinson playing 37 minutes, he'll likely have ample time to roam the paint and swat as many shots as he can get his hands on.

At just 20 years old, New York has eased Robinson into the role this season, attempting to start him earlier in the year before dialing back his workload. He has participated in a de facto apprenticeship under Jordan since his acquisition back in February. Jordan is a former NBA All-Defensive First Team performer in his own right, something that Robinson will undoubtedly have the chance to become as soon as next season.
