In his piece for The Athletic, Mike Vorkunov recently wrote about New York Knicks big man Enes Kanter and his love affair with the WWE. Throughout the write-up, there were several mentions of the 6-foot-11 center eventually taking up a starring role with the sports entertainment company once his time in the NBA was up.

Apparently, this wasn't merely a theory or a proposition based on Kanter's devotion to pro wrestling. As it turns out, the former third overall pick might actually take part in arguably the brand's biggest annual event, WrestleMania. At least this is according to renowned WWE personality, Paul Heyman.

“Well WrestleMania is in the New York area and I’m sure it shall be headlined by the reigning, defending undisputed universal heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar,” Heyman said. “But there’s room for Enes Kanter.”

Now, nobody is completely sure what to make of this. Of whether Kanter and the WWE have had previous contact or Heyman and Kanter have had discussions about a possible role in the professional wrestling's most popular league. However, NBA players — like Shaquille O'Neal, Karl Malone and the Ball family — crossing over to professional wrestling has been a common practice and Kanter is one of New York's most popular basketball stars right now, so there actually might be something to the idea of Kanter being a professional wrestler.

At least for a night.

Then again, this could be Heyman speaking as his overeager and inflated character in the WWE. He may just be stirring the pot a bit — as he has been known to have done in the past on countless occasions — and giving the people what they want to hear.

WWE WrestleMania 35 is scheduled on April 7, 2019 at the MetLife Stadium, so let's hope the Knicks are off on that day so there are no scheduling conflicts for Kanter. Just in case.
