Stephen A. Smith is a huge New York Knicks fan, and he was one of the happiest people on Earth when the ‘Bockers made it to the playoffs last season. This 2021-22 campaign with his favorite team struggling, however, Smith couldn't help but be frustrated.

On Wednesday after the Knicks blew a 28-point lead against New York rivals Brooklyn Nets, Smith was caught on camera complaining to his ESPN co-workers how the team makes him “sick.” His face certainly shows his deep pain and frustration, but Jalen Rose and company couldn't help but laugh at him.

It's hard to blame Stephen A. Smith for feeling like that. After a huge 2020-21 campaign, a lot of people thought that the Knicks are only going to get better. Julius Randle seemed to be the superstar they have long been looking for, and with the addition of some key players in the offseason and growth of two rookies in Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin, the future seemed really bright for them.

Unfortunately, contrary to expectations, the Knicks have been on a downward spiral since the start of the season. They are unable to replicate their previous success as they find themselves outside the playoff picture–even a little bit far to contend for the play-in.

The Knicks didn't make any major move during the trade deadline, which means the team's woes are likely to continue. Of course they are still not out of postseason contention, but they will need to really use the All-Star break to hit the reset button and prepare themselves mentally if they want to attempt a comeback.

As for Stephen A. and other Knicks fans, all they can do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
