For Trey Burke of the New York Knicks, his team is much like the Navy SEALs with the way they put their lives on the line for the game of basketball.

Per Marc Berman of the New York Post, Burke shared his thoughts on the game's critical minutes. For the 26-year-old, they value games, especially the ones against playoff teams:

“It’s a whole level of focus we have to have,’’ Trey Burke said of the five-minute mark of games. “Take the me out of it and it’s we. It’s like Navy SEALs. There’s lives on the line. I know it’s not life and death, but in this league it kind of is. You want to win games. We got to learn to value it. We value just being in the games with these playoff teams. ‘We’re in the game.’ It’s not what it’s about.’

So far, Burke is averaging 10.7 points and 3.3 assists, in 20.5 minutes per game. When Burke's number was called against the New Orleans Pelicans after not playing in three of the previous four games, he exploded for 24 points in 26 minutes. Despite his efforts, the Knicks lost, 129-124.

“We didn’t win but it’s a game I can build on,’’ Burke said.

And he did just that. Sunday against the Orlando Magic, Trey Burke logged in 31 points, including 8-for-10 from the free-throw line. However, his efforts were still not enough as they lost, 131-117. The Knicks have lost five straight. They'll face the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Tuesday.
