It’s not everyday that you get to see a 7’3” unicorn get dunked on because there are so few players with the hops, strength, and most of all, the audacity to even try that.

On Sunday, however, fans at the Madison Square Garden were all witnesses to that rare occurrence, as Atlanta Hawks big man Miles Plumlee sent one home right in the face of New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis.

It’s a play that someone like Plumlee definitely needed. The oldest of the Plumlee brothers, Miles has been bouncing around the NBA, having played for five different teams already in as many years.

Miles Plumlee’s dunk over one of the league’s brightest young stars didn’t just add two points up on the scoreboard for the Hawks. It must have also boosted his confidence.

Plumlee, who entered the Knicks game averaging 5.4 points and 5.2 rebounds over the previous five games, has been playing more minutes of late with the Hawks' frontline savaged with injuries to John Collins and Dewayne Dedmon.

As impressive as Miles Plumlee’s jam was, let’s not overlook that sweet, perfectly-timed pass from Hawks guard Kent Bazemore.

After playing the Knicks, Atlanta will face the Cleveland Cavaliers, so we’re looking forward to a Plumlee slam over Kevin Love next.
